Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 2026 - This Privacy Policy describes how CalcMate ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our calculators and services at calcmate.org. Our architecture is built on the principle of data minimization (GDPR Art. 5(1)(c)): the core calculation logic runs entirely in your browser via JavaScript, meaning the numbers you enter into our calculators are never transmitted to our servers. By using our Services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the platform.

Language & Interpretation: This policy is the authoritative version and is written in English. For clarification in other languages, please contact us at [email protected]. Browser-based translation tools may also be used for general reference.

1. Information Architecture & Collection

We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate and improve the platform:

  • Technical Telemetry: Anonymized usage signals including browser type, operating system, truncated IP address (last octet removed before any storage), and session duration. Used exclusively for system health monitoring and PageSpeed optimization. This data is not linked to any individual user.
  • Analytics & Advertising Cookies: We use Google Analytics 4 (anonymized mode) and Google AdSense to understand aggregate usage and to serve advertisements that support the free operation of this platform. These tools may set cookies on your device. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time via Google's opt-out browser add-on, or manage your Google ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com. You may also use your browser's built-in cookie controls to block or delete cookies at any time.
  • Voluntary Correspondence: Information you provide when contacting us (e.g., via [email protected]) is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not retained beyond the resolution of your request.
  • Calculator Inputs: We do not collect, transmit, or store any values you enter into our calculators. All computation occurs locally in your browser. This applies to all categories: financial figures, health metrics, tax data, and any other inputs. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's Developer Tools (F12) → Network tab and observing that no data request is sent when you run a calculation.
  • Protection of Minors: CalcMate does not knowingly collect data from individuals under 13 years of age (or under 16 within the EEA as defined by GDPR Art. 8). If we become aware that such data has been collected unintentionally, it will be deleted immediately.

2. Functional Use of Data

Data collected by CalcMate is processed only for the following specific purposes:

  • Maintaining the performance and availability of our calculators and platform infrastructure.
  • Analyzing aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to prioritize new tool development and interface improvements.
  • Delivering relevant advertisements via Google AdSense to sustain the free-to-use model of the platform.
  • Complying with applicable legal and security obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling (GDPR Art. 22).

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR - Regulation (EU) 2016/679)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), our processing is based on the following legal grounds under GDPR Art. 6:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): For non-essential cookies, including Google Analytics and personalized advertising via AdSense. You may withdraw consent at any time using the cookie controls described in Section 1.
  • Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): For the collection of anonymized technical telemetry required for platform security, performance monitoring, and fraud prevention - where these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): Where processing is required to comply with applicable law, court order, or formal governmental request.

4. Your Rights as a Data Subject

Under GDPR (for EEA users), CCPA (Cal. Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq., for California residents), and LGPD (Lei nº 13.709/2018, for Brazilian users), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access (GDPR Art. 15 / CCPA § 1798.110): You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification (GDPR Art. 16): You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure (GDPR Art. 17 / CCPA § 1798.105): You may request deletion of your personal data where there is no overriding legal basis for continued processing.
  • Right to Data Portability (GDPR Art. 20): You may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format where processing is based on consent or contract.
  • Right to Object (GDPR Art. 21): You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing purposes.
  • Right to Restrict Processing (GDPR Art. 18): You may request that we limit the processing of your data under specific circumstances.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: If you are in the EEA and believe your data rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (e.g., the ICO in the UK, the CNIL in France, or the BfDI in Germany).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days as required by GDPR Art. 12(3). Note that because our calculators process no personal data locally, most data subject rights will apply only to technically collected data (analytics, correspondence).

5. Data Sharing & Third-Party Integration

Information is shared only under the following specific conditions:

  • Service Providers: Google LLC (Google Analytics 4, Google AdSense) processes anonymized analytics and advertising data under their own privacy policies and Data Processing Agreements. Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymization enabled. Google AdSense serves contextual and personalized advertisements subject to your consent preferences.
  • Regulatory Compliance: We may disclose data if required by applicable law, enforceable court order, or formal request from a competent governmental authority.
  • Structural Transitions: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, your data will remain protected under equivalent privacy safeguards and you will be notified prior to any such transfer.

We do not share personal data with any advertising networks other than Google AdSense, and we do not permit third parties to collect data through our platform for their own purposes without your explicit consent.

6. Retention & International Transfers

Anonymized technical telemetry (analytics data) is retained for a maximum of 26 months from the date of collection, after which it is automatically deleted. Correspondence data is retained only for the duration required to resolve your inquiry, after which it is deleted within 90 days.

As a global platform, CalcMate may process technical data on servers located outside your jurisdiction, including the United States. For transfers of EEA personal data outside the EEA, we rely on the following safeguards as recognized under GDPR Chapter V: Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission (Decision 2021/914/EU) and, where applicable, adequacy decisions. Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

7. Policy Updates & Contact

This Privacy Policy is designed to meet the transparency requirements of GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679), CCPA (Cal. Civil Code § 1798.100 et seq.), and LGPD (Lei nº 13.709/2018). We review and update this policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revision was made. Continued use of CalcMate after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
